Ruaha National Park has an area of 20,380 sq. km. In its aura of untrammeled wilderness, the Park has a big area of semi-arid bush comprising of several ecological areas. Things to see in the park include: The main river valleys with their stands of tall fig trees, areas of open "black cotton" grassland, the miombo woodland and the undulating area which is mostly dominated by the baobab trees. Ruaha has one of the largest elephant sanctuaries in Tanzania. Other attractions include; Ruaha River, Usangu flats, more than 400 species of birds as well as the greater and the lesser kudus.
